Rookies Helped San Diego Chargers Win The Game

It was on Sunday during the Chargers' 26-16 victory over the Miami Dolphins,the rookie cornerback Marcus Gilchrist and rookie receiver Vincent Brown made great plays.

Gilchrist intercepted a pass from Miami quarterback Chad Henne at the San DiegoNFL Throwback Jerseys 15-yard line to prevent the Dolphins from scoring on their opening drive in his first career start.

Gilchrist also recovered from a pass interference penalty to stop a long touchdown play in the third quarter by deflecting a pass along with safety Eric Weddle in the middle of the end zone. The throw, intended for Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall, forced the Dolphins to settle for a 37-yard
field goal.

In the second quarter,Brown's first career reception came on a third-and-2 that went for six yards and a Chargers first down at Miami's 9-yard line.

Brown caught his second reception on third-and-15 and ran up the field for 20 yards and a first down to set up a 1-yard Mike Tolbert touchdown in the third quarter.

With the help of starting receiver Vincent Jackson in and out of the lineup over the course of the game, Brown moved between lining up in the slot and outside.Brown also preferred to point out the positive play of Gilchrist, who finished with a team-high two passes defensed.
